October 2021 ICPAU Examinations Results Show Improvement in Pass rates

The Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) of the Institute of certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has announced an improvement in the pass rates for the October 2021 examinations of the Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) and the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) courses.

ICPAU Awards Second Batch of CPA Scholarships

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) on 18 February 2021 announced the winners of the second batch of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U) scholarships.

There are 10 beneficiaries (4 female and 6 male), selected from both public and private chartered universities.

 

ICPAU Recommends Scrapping of Stamp Duty on Practising Certificates and Licenses

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has recommended the scrapping of the proposed UGX 100,000 as stamp duty on payment of professional licenses.

The Stamps Duty (amendment) Act 2020 amended Schedule 2 of the Stamps Duty Act, 2014; by imposing a duty of UGX 100,000 on payment of a professional license or certificate by every professional offering professional services.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are felt across all economies and no country or sector has been spared. ICPAU undertook a survey of its members in order to understand how businesses have been impacted particularly, how and when they envision reopening, and what they might need to aid their recovery. We are pleased to publish ‘COVID-19 Effects - Business reopening and recovery’, a report based on the survey.

Finding the silver lining …

The new normal is here. In a span of less than 6 months, life has transformed massively. COVID-19 has permeated every aspect of life, from business, to family and individual and the impact has largely been detrimental. The things we once took for granted: birthday parties, wedding celebrations, going to Church or the mosque, visiting a friend with a new born or even a casual jog with friends! These and many others are becoming all but distant memories.
