In an insightful session at the 28th Annual seminar, Mr. John Ekure, Director Kumi Orthopedic Centre shared his entrepreneurial journey and invaluable wisdom on creating and sustaining businesses in today's dynamic world.
Mr. Ekure began by emphasising the importance of diversifying income sources, particularly in times of uncertainty. Reflecting on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, he cautioned against hasty borrowing and encouraged attendees to maintain financial resilience.
"Fear should be your best friend, don't be afraid to start!" he remarked, inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs to take the leap into the world of business.
Emphasising the essence of a supportive network, Mr. Ekure urged participants to surround themselves with individuals who genuinely wish for their success. Exposure, he noted, plays a pivotal role in shaping an entrepreneurial mindset.
Defining entrepreneurship as the process of creating, developing, and managing new ventures, Mr. Ekure stressed the significance of identifying opportunities and generating innovative solutions.
When it comes to generating ideas for sustainable businesses, he offered a structured approach: identify and define a problem or gap, brainstorm ideas, evaluate them, refine and develop the idea, and finally, test and iterate.
Mr. Ekure also outlined steps in building a business, including developing a comprehensive business plan, securing funding, registering the business, and assembling a dedicated team.
Turning to the intersection of business and the environment, he encouraged participants to assess their businesses' impact on society.
In terms of financial wisdom, Mr. Ekure advised prudent spending and nurturing relationships.
He stated that the foundation of business success lies in having a thick skin, coupled with a strong value proposition, adaptability, innovation, customer focus, and effective leadership.
