The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has announced its sponsorship offer of UGX 20 million to the Uganda Woodball Federation to facilitate the organisation of the 13th ICPAU Junior Woodball Championship 2023, which will be held at Amazima School in Njeru.

The announcement of this year’s sponsorship worth UGX 20 million, both in cash in kind, was made at the Uganda Woodball Federation main offices in Mengo on 8 June 2023.

According to the CEO of ICPAU, CPA Derick Nkajja, the Institute is committed towards supporting the junior tournament because it resonates with the ICPAU’s main focus of developing professional skills among young people.

“Being professional is a lifestyle that should be cultivated at a young age. This justifies the several years of our partnership with the Federation to promote the Woodball sport, by nurturing the talent among youngsters,” said CPA Nkajja.

The President of the Uganda Woodball Federation, CPA Paul Mark Kayongo commended the Institute for its support towards the championship that has seen the success of the game in the country.

“ICPAU has been a chief sponsor of the championship since 2010 and we appreciate the Institute and its leadership for the trust and commitment towards the Federation, and the Woodball sport,” remarked CPA Kayongo.

Woodball was introduced in Uganda in 2008 and it has attracted a big number of players of all ages for over 15 years.

This year’s Junior Woodball tournament is scheduled for 17 June 2023 and it is expected to bring together over 200 participants from 40 schools, at both Primary and Secondary levels from different parts of the country.
