The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has unveiled the 2023 Accountancy Service Awards (ASA) Awards to recognise outstanding individuals and institutions that have made an impact in the accountancy profession, and in their communities.

Introduced in 2015, the Accountancy Service Awards are premium annual awards of excellence organised by ICPAU and aimed at appreciating persons or entities that have made remarkable contributions to the advancement of the accountancy profession in Uganda and beyond.

CPA Derick Nkajja, the Chief Executive Officer/ Secretary of ICPAU remarked that the Accountancy Service Awards acknowledge contributions made by not only accountants but other individuals as well, provided that there is impact made to society.

“In 2021, we introduced the COVID-19 lifeline award, which was scooped by Prof. Patrick Ogwang Engeu for his efforts in the development of treatments for COVID-19,” said CPA Nkajja.

Nomination for the awards is open to the general public and eligibility for nomination applies to all members of the public, beyond the accountancy profession, with outstanding contributions to humanity.

The eight categories for the 2023 Accountancy Service Awards include;

  • ICPAU Gold Service Awards
  • CPA of the Year Award
  • Young Accountant of the Year Award
  • Finance Team of the Year Award
  • Accounting Firm of the Year Award
  • Regional Network of the Year Award
  • Institutional Partner of the Year Award
  • Unique Humanitarian Award

Nominations for the awards can be done via https://www.icpau.co.ug/asa-nominations and will be closed on 18 August 2023.

The winners of the Awards will be announced on 22 September 2023 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe during the dinner.
