OVERVIEW
High quality and transparent public sector financial information makes government more accountable and is a key part of good public financial management. The best available approach to public sector financial reporting is to use IPSAS standards. IPSAS financial statements provided comprehensive financial information about government and public sector services, including information on the full costs of operation, sources of government revenue, assets like receivables and non-current assets and liabilities such as loan debt.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The workshop will enable participants to:
- Understand and apply IPSAS principles, concepts and knowledge
- Produce and interprete IPSAS financial statements and information (in both cash and accrual basis)
- Entrench IPSAS standards within public sector organisations
- Appreciate the lessons learned in practical implementation of IPSAS
