The August 2024 examinations diet of  PAEB of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) have commenced on Monday, 19 August 2024, and will run until Friday, 23 August 2024, at the Kampala centre.

The examinations are for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) course only and are being conducted at the Kampala centre only which is at UMA show grounds luggogo. Computer hands-on examinations are scheduled for Wednesday 21st August, 2024 at Kyambogo University, Mengo Senior School and Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT).

4,748 students are expected to sit for the examinations. Of these, 2,158 are male, while 2,590 are female. This is the highest number of students expected to sit for the August diet since its introduction in 2015.

ICPAU’s Director Education, CPA Charles Bahakwonka Byaruhanga acknowledged the positive trend, attributing it to the growing relevance of the August diet examinations.

“We are pleased that students have embraced this diet to enable them progress their studies in the shortest possible time,” he added.

CPA Derick Nkajja, the Secretary/CEO of ICPAU, emphasised the significance of the CPA(U) examinations, emphasizing that;

"These exams are pivotal in ensuring that we produce accountants who are not only technically proficient but also ethical and forward-thinking. As our candidates progress through these exams, they are preparing to take on roles that will influence and shape various sectors of our economy," he said.

Benchmarked against the International Education Standards (IES) of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), CPA(U) is a professional accountancy qualification which aims to develop competent professional accountants that can contribute positively to both the profession and the national economy. Graduates of the CPA(U) programme have the potential to serve in many capacities, in almost all sectors of the economy

The final examinations diet for the year 2024 will be held from 2 – 6 December. This diet will be for all courses including CPA(U), the Certified Tax Advisor (CTA), and the Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), and will be conducted at all Seven (7) centres, namely, Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara, and Nkozi.
