The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is set to begin the first diet of the 2024 examinations on 20 May 2024. The examinations are expected to run from Monday 20 – Friday 24 May 2024 at 7 examinations centres, Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara and Nkozi.

Over 6977 students have registered to sit for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Accountant Technicians Diploma (ATD) and the Certified Tax Advisers (CTA) Examinations.

The Chief Executive Officer of ICPAU, CPA Derick Nkajja says that the examination process is an opportunity to assess the knowledge that has been acquired by the students as well as an avenue for students to progress their studies and become qualified.

“This is a chance to assess the students’ understanding, evaluate their skills and critical thinking, as they strive towards growing professionally and personally,” remarked CPA Nkajja.

“Ultimately, our goal is to train and develop competent professional accountants who can effectively serve the economies and create impact in the communities,” he added.

The CPA (U) course, which is benchmarked on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) International Education Standards (IES) aims to develop competent professional accountants capable of positively contributing to both the profession and the national economy. Graduates of the CPA(U) programme, are qualified to work as financial and management accountants, finance managers, tax and financial consultants, chief operating officers, and chief executive officers.

CTA produces competent tax advisors who contribute to the economic development of the country, while ATD is designed to produce competent accounting staff with a wide range of technical knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable them to work in any sector of the economy.

The Institute is expected to hold two more examination diets later in the year; in August and November. Interested candidates are expected to register between 18 June – 31 July and 17 August – 30 September, for the August and November Examination diets respectively. Registration is via www.icpau.co.ug
